Jim,
A lot of Olympic projects end up in a state of decay. If they built something they are actually getting use out of, the guy is brilliant.
The Olympic Park in Seoul and the Seoul Sports Complex is still being used today. One of my aunts lives in the Olympic Village, which was converted to apartments and real estate after the 1988 Olympics.

I swung by Calgary last winter, and it seems most of their Olympic projects are just sitting there not getting much use.

According to a recent article, most of Beijing's Olympic projects are now abandoned and unmaintained. Only the Bird's Nest and the swimming cube get any use.
