We liberals had the power with Jefferson, Lincoln, TR and FDR

Jefferson was probably further from today's liberals than any president. He adamantly opposed big govt. He spoke against wealth redistribution and public welfare. He opposed most taxes, and he was a slave owner. He would be far to the right of any Rep politician today.

FDR's new deal started us on the ruinous path that you so love. He was a liberal, and the country is still trying to recover from the damage he did.
