7/20/12 Contest Update
Inspired, perhaps, by Olympic long jumpers, investors leapt into stocks. And biotech jumpers, in particular, went for the Gold.
At Friday’s close the Contest median was up a remarkable 40.57% YTD (vs. up 36.01% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 32.13% YTD (vs. up 27.34% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 13.55% YTD (vs. up 12.29% YTD a week ago).
DONS’ portfolio, up 79.46% YTD, had another boffo week and remained our leader. RKRW's portfolio, up 72.71% YTD, also tore up the track and moved into second place, while NP1986’s portfolio, up 69.63% YTD, fell back to third place.
At Friday's close, 2 of the 38 Contest portfolios were still in the red, with 23 of the 38 portfolios beating the NBI. And, amazingly, there are now 12 Contest portfolios showing a YTD gain greater than 50%.
