Rand, I believe your premis is wrong, and hence your conclusion. The majors know their is precious metals in DDs, just like they know the ocean is full of it and just like they know its in the ground of the
mines/sites they decide are uneconomical. And secondly, until someone of these desert dirts starts a positive cash flow via their proprietary extraction process your assertion that its even possible is meaningless except as a market manimulator's tool to steer the novice and greedy where he wants them to go.
