To select multiple files in Windows for any task, you have to hold the Ctrl key down while selecting/clicking the multiples files. If you hit Ctrl + A keys together, it will select all files in a folder. To select a range of files select the first file while holding down Shift and then select the last file in the range. These are the basic ways to select files in Windows for any purpose.

I am working my way through all my PCs to try to replicate your issue of a blank white box. Have not been able to do it yet.

What you should see is a white box with "You have not selected any files. Click the 'Add files' button above to select one or more files to upload." AND a button labeled "Add Files" in the upper left hand corner. You click the "Add Files" button and a windows file selection window will open. At that point, you use the methods in the first paragraph of this post to select the file or files you want to upload. Then click the "upload" button in the white box.
