I don't have any dependence on government and never have. I came out of a tough town with an alcoholic father (Richmond Calif) and paid for my entire education myself. I earned my way though 6 years of college, often working all night and then going straight to my classes, because I knew how important it was to educate myself. My brother only went to the 8th grade and most in my town did not go to college.

I have worked hard my whole life in a zillion jobs from cleaning fish and washing dishes to selling real estarte for the last 20 years. I am 70 and still work full time. About to go off to work now.

And I took care of my poor mom for 20 years and we never took a dime of welfare, even though she could have gotten it. And I paid to put two daughters through advanced degrees (one is still going).

My concern is for those less fortunate than I. When we instituted social security it pulled millions of poor and especially poor old women out of abject poverty. None of my support for government has anything to do with me personally.

It is my concern for the people of my country and the world. I am not willing to see old people suffer for no good reason.

A good society takes care of its people.
