Leftism and Marxism play on the generally positive imagery of fairness and altruism. Like with the "Broken Window fallacy", it's easy to see the surface, with it's appeal and logic. Socialistic solutions will always end up in stagnation and despotism - but many, maybe most people have difficulties seeing that. And if you try to explain, their reaction is often defensive, as if you're trying to trick them.
