Jack, don't mess with laps. the bang for the processor buck is not their. If you do have to have a lap then find a toshiba or compaq at model change. I don't really think that you need all the advanced features. give me would you will do with lap. I'll need a clue on your pc vendor to advise. I've seen what you describe on older units. say 6-10 yrs old. Should not happen on 2 yr unit no matter who the vendor is. I always look for low mean time between failure rates on pc's. and compare to price. I can accpept almost zero down time and this is what I've been getting.
