Here is some military election strategy:-)

Military Industrial Complex via Defense Dep't is playing hard ball and put pre election pressure on Obama not to cut defense spending by 10%:

wdr.doleta.gov

Sequestration will hit the defense industry on Jan 2, 2013 if budget mess isn't sorted out, resulting in a 10% cut. The above 60 day advance layoff notice comes just before the election. As the military industrial complex is spread across 50 states, a 10% cut would result in someone on just about every neighbourhood in America getting a layoff notice.

If the budget mess isn't sorted out, I would expect the defense industry stocks will be hit hard in the market, however, Obama is a hawk, so it seems unlikely he would alienate all the voters who work for Defense Industry companies.
