<<What do you expect? I've actually given the gay marriage issue a lot of thought. You dismissed it because I recognize that democrats are using it as an emotional issue to distract from other issues that impact ALL americans.>>

You have it ass backwards. The Republican's are the ones who have used gay marriage to divide the country and win elections for a long time.

They are doing it now. Romney is using it now saying he is against it and it is on the Republican platform "defense of marriage act".

There is no defense of marriage act on the democratic platform!

Until recently most people were against gay marriage, so Republicans used it as a wedge issue. Which is why dems drug their feet on gay marriage and don't ask don't tell. And it was the Republican's always forcing the issue.

Bush won 2004 by demagoguing gay marriage and especially in Ohio. Carville told Kerrry he needed to denouce gay marriage to win Ohio as Bush was running massive anti gay advertising connecting Kerry to gay marriage.

Kerry said he couldn't do that and lost the election.

Aren't facts a bitch.
