Haim.. which of the Nostradamus specific writing's are your referring to? Do you have a specific quantrain or century in mind. Nostradamus is so fascinating because he was prophet, astrologer and physician all rolled into one.
This Iran, Iraq situation and in particular Jordon totally has me baffeled here. maybe you can help me out a little.
It is so hard for me ( very frustrating ) to understand the real underlying motivation within this area of the world. It is frustrating because being raised in the West, I am smart enough to know I unable to comprehend the underlying essentail truths behind what all that is unfolding in the Mid East is all really about.
I would like to elaborate and ask you some questions if I may in an attempt to try to understand. I would also anyones elses input who lives or is very close to the situation there. I have an open mind... at least I think I do....So I will welcome any information you may be willing to share. Let me start by stating my feelings about the region.. I am convinced that I being a westerner, can in no way rationalize what the motivation is for Iran, Iraq and in particular the reilgious fundamentalist factions within the mid east region. I have no clue and am in totally uncharted waters here as a westerner. Its a total defferent world which is run by a complete different set of rules and I have no idea how the game is played.
Beleving the above to be true.. and because I am not from the region, I have conclueded that I am am incapable of understanding what is accepted as being fair and logical and what is not .
I think people in the United States assume our western perception of what is right or wrong as well as our western moral value scale is the one and only one everyone needs to live by.
I like our system yet looking at it with an opne mind I feel that this alone is the US's entire problem in the world community..
We assume we can assess and defuse the turmoil of the Mid East using western logic when dealing with religious fundamentalists and other such actions as there exist in the Mid East.
We in the west assume the rest of the world should be able to easily understand if they simply will learn to play by our set of rules. they need to first and formost incorporate our template for manklind to live by and thus will see the light and all the problems of the region will go away. Then... w4e are are shocked when they respond calling us arrogant bullies. Why should our rules decide who is right and who is wrong for the entire world? They may have a good point. I don't know.
It seems the fundamentalists live by the Koran. I never read it but assume it sets priorities for ones life that are obviously quite forgien to me here in the west.
It would seem we have a real problem with this. It seems they keep trying to us but we don't listen. They keep saying ...sorry USA we don't play by your rules? The west feels that they are wrong.
Our answer is to somehow either threw intimidation militarily or by influence bia deplomacy need to be edgucate the east and once done all will be fine with the world.
It's simply a matter of ramming western values down there throats to the point to where they all Arabs and Muslims and everyone else in the region that deplore the US will eventually see the light..
I have to admit this makes us sound like a pretty damn arrogant society. but The bottom line is that I almost have to agree that this seems to pretty much sum up wnat our forgien policy objective seems to be doing in the region.
I don't know .. what do you think?
I sense strongly that many around the world think we are doing just that. I also think they really resent it! I think the we may be making a juge mistake in sticking with this form of dealing with the people of this region.
But deal is I don't know... I don't live there and I am niehter Arab, Muslim or Jew. I'm just a German/ Pollack :-) living in the USA.
I can see where those who live in the Mid East may have a legitimate claim when they say... hey..wait a minute... who made you vein Gucci watch wearing yuppie jerks in the the USA GOD!
Why do you assume you should decide the rules of the game as it where for our part of the world.?
I think to understand what is truly going on in Iran, Iraq, Israel, Syria, etc. .. you have to literally be a * member* not *a spectator * to the entire events surrounding the region.
I never trust the evening news for providing me the proper interpretation of events as it where.
The media are spectators. I want to hear what's going on from someone who grew up and lives in the region. What seems black to us may be white for everyone in that region. We think they are wrong... in reality.. we don't have a clue what it really is all about. I think you have to ask and get the answer from the people who acutally live there.
Haim,
It sounds like you may live or at least spend some time in this area of the world. If so I would welcome your perspective of this situation unfolding. I am one weesterner who would really like to understand what is happening over there. I am willing to listem with a very open mind. I would welcoime your aor anyone from the regions point of view with open ears..
It's hard tfor me for instance to grasp how Iran and Iraq at one time are mortal enemies. Yet... now... it sounds like if push comes to shove, they may be unite if need be as allies united under the clock of religious fundamentalism. This baffles me to no end.
I see the radical faction of religious fundamentalism spreading across the region like a plagueIs it true that in Egypt in particular the hard line fundamentalists are growing life sweeping locusts across the land. I hear stories of how its literally getting to be a major concern of the government there and whether they can continue to keep a lid on it.,.
As stated earlier, these peoples motivation is something totally forgien to me.. Their regard and value they put on human life etc., are so totally different than the West that we have no way of understanding what is really going threw these peoples minds.
Again. let me end by saying I would appreciate your views of what is unfolding in this region and what you think will be the eventual outcome. I would be very appreciative if you would be willing to share with me your personal view?
Sorry for the long post but this is a passionate subject for me. I would truely like to try to understand at least the basics of the true situation here.
Thanks in advance... Staff |
