Not exactly manipulation....

Tom, DMG wouldn't be doing this to ATML for "pure" manipulation. What they are accomplishing is two-fold. They are generating trading volume, and they are moving the market.

Analysts get paid, in part, according to trading revenue. If their call can generate volume, they make more money.

Secondly, some analysts love to boast about "moving the market" (also known as "being the axe"). Because this analyst was able to move ATML he can pound his chest and brag about his market savy.

This isn't manipulation. Investment banks have way too much at stake to risk accusations of manipulation. What it is is just an analyst trying to get some attention on a non-call.

Steve, you mentioned that ATML "always does this". When does it normally end?
