Swissray wins FDA approval X-ray detector
Reuters Story - November 24, 1997 20:23
NEW YORK, Nov 24 - Swissray International Inc on Monday said it received approval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its direct X-ray detector, the AddOn-Bucky, to be used in diagnostic imaging. The AddOn-Bucky is able to convert X-ray information directly into a high-quality digital image which can be viewed on Swissray's SwissVision workstation within 20 seconds, the company said. Swissray's direct digital technology is designed to replace conventional screen-film systems and phosphor imaging plate systems, the company said. The time-consuming, labor-intensive and costly film, cassette and imaging plate handling is eliminated, Swissray said in a statement. Since the use of X-ray film and developer chemicals becomes unnecessary, the AddOn-Bucky also offers environmental advantages, Swissray said. Swissray plans to market the AddOn-Bucky in the United States as part of its AddOn-Multi-System, a digital X-ray systems which performs most general X-ray applications. FDA approval for the complete system is pending, Swissray said. |
