To answer my own question as to whether a positive mention of XOMA in Worth will move the stock, my answer is "sort of."

It depends on the individual investor that's reading it. If it's someone like us who are already invested in XOMA and already know that M&M recommend it, then Worth's article does nothing. If it's someone who thinks that Biotech is too risky a place for investing, then the mention also does nothing. However, if the someone is someone that likes Biotech but doesn't know about XOMA or M&M's recommendation thereof, then the mention becomes a "straw." Given enough straws, this someone may eventually buy the stock; or if they already own it, buy more or not sell.
