I think they've ALREADY blown the product launch Timing is definitely not good, since Samsung and Apple will debut their latest and greatest in the same month. It's sort of like jumping up and down and yelling "Me too, me too" in some far flung corner of the World's Fair.
Also, from everything I read, the Windows Lumia will not be sporting the 41 megapixel PureView camera module of the Nokia 808 PureView, presently winning awards and accolades around the planet:
Another interesting thing to note is its 12.0 megapixel camera. The last Nokia phone to don a 12-megapixel camera was the N8, whose camera was celebrated through tech circles. The question is, can Nokia install a camera of that caliber inside the Lumia 910 whilst maintaining its coveted industrial design? Previously on the N8 camera, the sensor was so large that it protruded outside the main exoskeleton of the device, giving it a some what ungainly look from the rear.
From what we have heard, the Lumia 900 features the same camera module as the N9 and Lumia 800. While these are good camera modules, they fall short of the likes of the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S II, an area where Nokia used to dominate. It will definitely make sense for Nokia to release a device with superior photography capabilities as it could differentiate itself from the competition. However, one has to think how much of an upgrade can they provide to the consumer inside the confines of the Lumia 900/800 design language.- Nokia Lumia 910 pops up on Dutch website, boasts 12.0 MP camera | Video & Photo Reviews of Gadgets at BGR India So, seems to me, 41MP PureView is not going into the flagship Windows Lumia. Instead - at best - the generations old, 12MP version will go in, probably not, more likely it will be the same, inferior camera that is in the Lumia 800/900.
In my never humble opinion, a 12MP Windows Lumia will not make a photocam splash, sales wise. Yeah, it might sell like the Nokia N8 - Nokia N8 Sales Estimated - but everyone knows that's simply not enough, in 2012.
Don't ask what I think a Windows 8 Lumia with the substandard 800/900 camera module will do. |
