Canoga Slim, owner of the best nom de plume on the web I've seen, rears his head from the DACQ epistles. Welcome aboard! Unfortunately, my opinion of my dear AMAT buck and a Q uptick is no more than overall market rise float. Like so many others on this and other semi equip threads I agree the long term picture remains very bright, brighter for AMAT than the rest, but until we get through '97 (and I hope its just '97) who knows. The market may well see enough in mid 97 to anticipate the bottom but again who knows. Bottom line for me, I'm already a substantial holder, is to wait it out. For those new to this board, AMAT made an astounding 40% CAGR for ten years85-95 which included two big downturns so buy and hold has HISTORICALLY been a good strategy. I personallly still think it is if you have a long time horizon.
