I agree that people should be allowed to make decisions concerning the ending of their lives.

But I was agreeing with what that doctor said about how it's not so much about avoiding suffering, as it is about wanting to have some control.

There would be great comfort in knowing that I had something I could take if I decided it was time to check out, without, as you say, placing a loved one in jeopardy or doing something that would make a big mess.
