"Janna Ryan wears $70 dress, looks better than Michelle in $500
Okay, okay. You people can stop assuming I want to jump all over Paul Ryan. Look, the Tumblr. It's funny. And he's not a bad looking dude. But I have a husband that I just bought a house with and our marriage is totally surviving a kitchen remodel so I'm not giving this keeper up, and the Paul Ryan is married to a gorgeous tall, blond woman who gave him three ridiculously adorable kids, and who obviously knows how to look like she spent the entire Medicaid budget while actually shopping from a discount retailer's sale rack.
Yesterday, at Paul's homecoming rally, his wife Janna sported a pricey-looking, figure flattering wrap dress with a floral print. The dress, by designer Dana Buchman, sells for $70 at Kohls, but is currently on sale for a mere $35.

Sporting a $70 Dana Buchman dress (now on discount at Kohl's for $35), the newest addition to the campaign wives' club commanded attention not for her bold pink floral print but for her fashion frugality…
Ryan's low-cost (and machine washable!) outfit choice knocks a few zeros off some of the designer digs her fellow Republican ticket wife Ann Romney has been spotting in. Romney made waves in May after wearing a silk Reed Krakoff blouse that retails for $990 during an interview on morning television.
ABC News goes on to recount Michelle Obama's high-fashion, high-ticket forays as well, noting her $2K vacation sundress, though attacks on her are rare, partly because she's Michelle Obama and partly because the clothes usually look more like they were purchased off the rack at TJMaxx. Ann Romney's Giant Bird Shirt, which cost $990, looked expensive. Not that there's anything wrong with buying clothes off the rack at TJMaxx. It's the max for the minimum.
But I'm just saying here's Janna Ryan looking like she paid a lot for a dress you won't ruin in the spin cycle, and here's Michelle Obama looking like she pulled something out of the 1990s dollar bargain bin and paying $500 for it. That dress right there? A Tracy Reese that started life at $525. Like Janna, Michelle O probably purchased the dress on sale – and you can, too – for a cool $210, which is only the cost of a doctor's visit or two weeks of groceries.

And Andrea Mitchell is still 100% convinced that, despite not knowing any actual suburban women with children, that Paul Ryan was somehow "not the pick for women?" Right. Of course, in Andrea's mind, Paul Ryan is riding a bicycle in from the 1950s wearing a Don Draper suit and holding enough shackles to chain the entire board of NOW to pre-heating kitchen appliances by their ankles, with packs of birth control hanging from the ceiling just beyond their reach. As fun as that would be, Andrea lives in a dream world. Which probably includes $500 sundresses."
