Popular Wall Street commentary seems to be that if and when Greece exits the Euro, it will be devastating for the U.S. stock market.

I guess I don't understand why. Greece is a very small country. Why should even a depression there affect the U.S.? Is the real reason that the same debt and deficit issues could eventually cause Italy and/or Spain to leave?

Trying to understand how the presumed cause and effect work.
