HTC is readying a trio of Windows Phone 8 handsets for release next month, as all eyes turn to the next major iteration of Microsoft’s smartphone operating system.
According to sources cited by WPDang, three handsets informally dubbed the HTC Zenith, HTC Accord and HTC Rio will make their debut during the third week of September.
In keeping with its name, the Zenith appears to be the top of the range number, with a spec sheet that takes in a 4.3-inch screen and a quad-core processor, after Microsoft introduced support for multi-core chips with the latest version of its platform.
The Accord is the mid-ranger, but still packs a 4.3-inch screen, a dual-core processor and eight-megapixel camera.
And rounding things off is the Rio, which salsas its way on the scene with a five-megapixel camera, Snapdragon S4 Plus line processor of indeterminate cores and a five-megapixel snapper.
HTC’s fresh assault on the Windows Phone market comes after it ceded its position as the leading Android phone-maker to its rival Samsung, amid slow sales for the HTC Sensation and One range of smartphones. ###
