Fed Outlook: while the door to further QE remains open, reports Goldman Sachs suggests no move in September weighed on Treasuries overnight.

While the Fed had a clear easing bias in its August 1 policy statement, it did not pre-commit to a move, according to Goldman, and recent data hasn't been weak enough to prompt additional stimulus at the September 13 FOMC. That added to bearish pressure on Treasuries overnight. But Goldman still believes more QE is on the way late this year or early next. Analysts continue to see diminishing returns to further stimulus and hope officials won't pull the trigger.
