Hello, Cruiser

Chambers will be busy establishing Cisco IOS as the de facto standard internetwork operating system in '98, and seek to put in place strong alliances with LU and NT that will go far to accomplish that. While BAY's adaptive networking concepts and open solutions would be optimal for future networking needs, CSCO may accomplish its stranglehold before companies see the falacy. There is precedence for this ... MSFT has achieved dominance before open standards could flourish in PC operating systems and its flawless execution ensures it stays profitably on top ... ADBE has achieved dominance before open standards could flourish in desk top publishing but flaws in its execution makes it trade up and down. CSCO has had flawless execution quarter over quarter ...

For the record, I am long CSCO and very long BAY ... owned and traded both since 1993. Oh, BAY's new products that allow transmission of voice via ATM with overlay on PBX is a nice game plan. Lots of PBX's out there ... revenues from legacy systems.

What say you to all this, my dear? Take care.
