meathead, I can take you to places that make pc's get great prodcutivity for 6+ yrs w/o thin client....
$1000 pc's are going to rock and roll for maybe 10 yrs if
citrix completes the data entry soft...
a family with a 4 yr will be just about right for a cpq p180 799 pc in 3 yrs.. I ain't buying this little guy a $2000 p400<ggg>
and he'll use it 2-3 yrs..
micheal dell has become so rich he has lost track on what real Americans go through.
He's become pretty much like our congressmen who don't know what a loaf of bread cost, how to make their own airline arrangments,
or hotel arrangements... He doesn't even know what his last plane ticket cost....how will he know that if you are inventive you can always optimize.
the real life stuff has become beneath him....
So, with no imagination to him the $1000 pc(which by the way is ungradeable) is a disposable or not.....
the sub $800 pc will last 6 yrs(persoanl use) then it can still do functions that the household will have for pc's in the 21st century.
Next yr I can still show you touchscreen scanner datacollection systems that are using 5 yr old pc's and the repsonse time is instantaneous and they collection 1 million plus transactions into a quality database per month.(they are 4 yrs old now and running on a pc allot less powerful than the 800 dollar pc

So, I say...get with the real world....somewhere you are in meicheal dell's world where if they ask you the cost of a loaf of bread you have to reply "wo knows and who cares<ggg>"
