I would suggest you live in an upscale urban area with your house as protected as possible, and a shotgun in the bedroom. Hide what assets you can, and plan on using any Federal handouts you can get your hands on when you are over 65.

Use a employee Doctor style of HMO if possible. They will have the best deal from the Government and your chances of getting good medical care will be with them, IMO. Do the Mormon bit and have six months worth of staples in the basement that you rotate use of.

If Obama wins, tough times will be coming. We just won't know when.
