Hi Gary.... my story gets complicated concerning Ninja Trader. Long ago you will recall hounding me about Bracket Trader. At that time I had reduced my trading interest to the ES only. I haven't traded anything else for years. I tried to make the bracket trading concept work with my TWS, but it didn't satisfy what I was looking for. Also at that time I was using Quote Tracker, feeding it from my IB data for my charting needs.
About that time, after paying Medved for an extended period to continue using QT, he sold it to Ameritrade and they came to me for more money. I discovered I could dump QT and replace it with the free version of Ninja Trader, again, only to produce the charts I trade from. Since NT charges an arm and leg for the version that will allow trading directly from it, I heeded your advice and bot Bracket Trader. BT is very similar in appearance and behavior to the live version of Ninja, for a one time very much lower price than Ninja.
So, now I get data from IB, feed it to Ninja Trader for charts and have Bracket Trader linked back to IB to execute trades. It works as smooth as silk, once I got it all integrated, which wasn't that difficult.
Having gone through all that, I recently became aware of Global Futures which offers a platform where all my needs are rolled up in just one program. Data, charts, fast execution and all. I haven't actually gotten around to watching their demo, but it's on my "to do" list. I may leave IB, BT and NT for the Global package. Need to take a very close look first. What I have works fine, it's just that I'm forever having to update 3 different programs to keep it running. |
