Mr. Staya: Another interesting point in the article related to Aeroquipa's Pierina development. As I understood it, CM (as she then was) and her company let Barrick do some drilling to see what was at the site, and Barrick underestimated the results so as to lower its bid. It was only when CM was going to bring in Placer Dome to do some drilling that Barrick raised its bid. Barrick wanted a JV with Aeroquipa to mine Pierina -- but CM wanted a sale. With PFG, the JV agreement is already in place. What I'm wondering is whether Barrick is playing the same game, i.e. underestimating what is at Diablillos to try and keep down the price that is eventually offered. Is there any way for PFG to hire its own drill crews so that it can get an independent evaluation? Can anyone post the whole RoB article?
