The markets react based on what they think the election outcome will be.

Just as when it became apparent Obama would win in '08 the entire economy collapsed, as it becomes evident Romney will win in '12 the economy will begin to rebound unless the economic headwinds are just so strong the positive sentiment can't overcome it.
