I think this is good for America. The number of manufacturing workers in America has already dwindled so there is little to lose. Robotic manufacturing makes it possible to get most of our manufacturing back, since it nullifies the key competitive advantage of cheap labor countries. It provides few new jobs, but they are well paying. Most importantly, it integrates design and manufacturing in America and safeguards American intellectual property.
Plus, those robots have to be designed and operated, so there are at least some new jobs, even pretty good ones.

I'd love to see the US take the lead in robotics, both in terms of the science, but in building the robots, and in bringing back those manufacturing jobs.

Apple should get on top of this.
