The fact that ZTE was not one of the four official launch partners for Windows Phone 8 is showing, as today the company has announced that its Windows Phone 8 devices won’t be launching until late 2013. Chris Edwards, the European marketing and development director for the company stated that company would be slow to offer Windows Phone 8 handsets compared to Nokia, who will be out of the gate with their devices.

When asked about the quality of the devices ZTE is planning to produce, Edwards did say that the company plans to stick to the middle ground by offering consumers cheap alternatives to “tier one” manufacturers.

“We plan to concentrate on things that really matter: good batteries, fast speeds and decent cameras.”
