I agree that even if we are talking ports, if these numbers are accurate, they have done an impressive job. I hope Ancor can sell as much product.

Have you been thinking about DWDM at all lately? I have been spending more time looking at it as both a potential investment and as a threat to fibre channel. I have concluded that it may be a complementary technology. I read at least one article where ATM cell overhead was criticized and they used IP instead. Like FC it is protocol independent, and seems to me to be an ideal replacement for ATM switches at the LAN/WAN interface. It would really extend the LAN diameter for FC. I can see using a switched fabric and using the DWDM multiplexer to send out FC at full gig speed.

I have asked Ancor if this is possible. IBM currently makes DWDM devices - maybe they could partner with them.
