Well I do agree it is too big in relation to the threats from other countries. I do know a bunch of bases got closed and the manpower of the services has been reduced. The Pentagon wants to whack military retirees' benefits to pay for future weapon systems, but they aren't getting anywhere with that as old soldiers vote and complain mightily when they try this.
