3) All manufacturers need to think twice before copying the latest and greatest Apple features Mixed feelings here.
This is a good result for my APPL shares, but OTOH I just got an iPhone this week, and whilst there are some nice aspects about it, I am annoyed / disappointed that some aspects of it are woefully worse than my previous crappy Android phone and there is no way round these via apps from the app store.
In particular Apple's insistence on not allowing alternative dialling and texting apps in the app stores means I shall be jailbreaking it today. So "latest and greatest" seems ironic when, for example, I have less features in managing texts or dialling than I did on devices from about 10 years ago :-(
The case seems to be about copying icons and the like, but whats affecting me is not the icon, but whats underneath, the actual functionality.
So, as I say, mixed feelings, if Apple gets a lock down on capability, they at least have some sort of moral responsibility either to enhance their capability, or open up the platform to allow alternative apps. |
