November 24, 1997: Acquires Stow Manufacturing

United Dominion Industries Ltd. announced the acquisition of Stow Manufacturing Company, a
Binghamton, N.Y., manufacturer of light construction equipment. Terms were not disclosed.

With annual sales of approximately $20 million, Stow produces a broad line of light equipment
for concrete placement and treatment, paying, and site preparation. It will become the light
construction equipment division of Compaction America, United Dominion's North American
manufacturer of BOMAG and HYPAC soil and asphalt compactors located in Kewanee, Ill.
Stow Manufacturing's current management will operate the company for Compaction America.
The plant has approximately 150 employees.

"The addition of Stow enables United Dominion's Compaction Segment to broaden its product
offerings and increase its worldwide presence in the light equipment industry," said William R.
Holland, chairman and chief executive officer. The Compaction Segment includes both
BOMAG, located in Boppard, Germany, and Compaction America.

United Dominion manufactures proprietary engineered products for customers worldwide. The
company employs 11,000 people at 68 plants in 16 countries.
