Hi James,
When I investigated Samsung, I found out that Samsung does not have an adr that trades on the American stock market. One way you can buy Samsung is within one of the Korea funds---of course this means you will be buying a basket of other Korean stocks as well. In the early 80's, foreign investors were able to purchase Korean stocks in the country and I think, it was at a higher price because of tax issues. If I travel there next week, I shall check it out and let you know about this. This morning I was thinking about a trip to Korea in the near future. What a coincidence! Also, I was thinking about Samsung and ASMLF and hoping that Samsung is able to follow-through on their purchase plans for ASMLF machines.
My information about the Korean funds was given to me by Michael on the ask Michael(?-Burke?))thread awhile back so I give credit to him. Do you think most of the bloodletting is done on the Korean stocks?
I lurk on the ASMLF thread and though this stock has been battered because of the success of their Asian sales, I continue to be an enthusiastic supporter of the long term holding of this stock.
Re: LG. Is this Laclede Gas that you are referencing? Just looked at the LG chart and news. Looks fine and steady but the knowlege I have was just acquired. Any recs? I am looking for some winners so that I can offset my multitudinous losses! Sometimes I think I am the only loser in the US during the past year. Ah well, hope springs eternal!
