No John, I am not conflicted at all. The Constitution delineates what the responsibilities of the federal government should be. These are the duties that the states could not effectively take care of.

The Constitution lists, provide for a unified foreign policy, provide a common currency and provide a common defense as the duties of the federal government. I am 100% for the federal government exercising these duties.

The beauty of the system is that if a state such as California wants to provide free college to all who care to reside there it is within their right and ability. If they end up with a disproportionate share of the well educated and businesses flourish maybe other states would emulate the method of their success.

If another state wishes to provide free medical care to all and the deadbeats from across the land flock to that place and bankrupt the government other states would surely learn not to make that mistake.

Guess what, the idea of ruining the entire nation with a stupid idea is ignorant. The famous inscription is not "Send me your poor sickly and unmotivated freeloaders."
