We need to know as Americans some/all of the changes and regulations that are underway already that will change our health care situation in so many ways. The real and actual things that will affect our own medical situations as well as those for people we love and care about.
Have you ever thought of maybe working with other gifted writers and researchers to provide information for the US citizens on what we need to know, and what, if anything, we can do about it?
For instance.....When we all started working and paying for Medicare back in the 1965 era, we knew that supposedly the Part A was "Free" (we would pay for it out of our pay checks for the next decades until we retired so of course it wasn’t Free) and we would have to additionally pay for the Part B (Doctors, labs and other work) when we actually retired......Well, in those years, if you had to be hospitalized for whatever reason, you were admitted if you were ill or needed surgery. Not admitted on an "observational admit...." And you weren't discharged until you could semi-cope on your own.
So we were in the hospital for a few days longer than we are now....In 1965, retiring seemed a long time away, and most of us thought that we would have our choice of insurance.... Not true now. There are few if any, insurance companies that will write for those past 65, UNLESS they are still working. And now, instead of being able to cope on our own before being discharged, we are sent home in 3, max 4 days after a hip replacement, or sent to a nursing facility with less care, and unless you have a good supplement, not much help with the cost. And even then, you might not be admitted to that secondary nursing facility, so are left to seek help from family and friends who are NOT nurses, nor trained in providing shots, IV's etc....
People really don't know what they are in for until it happens to them.....and honestly, we need some accurate reporting about real life situations and how to cope with the events we are faced with.
Re your thoughts of: At the same time, there are three glaring crises facing this country which, if not soon addressed, and if not soon brought into the forefront of the national consciousness, will not be reversed, and may prove fatal to the American experiment itself. Those three crises are embodied in (1) our dramatic loss of personal liberty, (2) the erosion of our national sovereignty, and (3) the threat of radical Islam to our very survival as a people
TOTALLY agree! But what we need to know, both for ourselves and for others we know .....is WHAT can each person do about each of these important threats.....I honestly believe we would have more support and more knowledgeable citizenry if we knew what big and little things we could do to help.
Most women and men that can are working more than an 8 hour day, plus taking care of their families....both children and their aging parents (see the above comments....) SO to work together as a untied team, maybe some check lists of items could help....concrete ideas that people could tack up by their desks at home, or their telephones, or computers.....
