I am not saying we will not make MACS. We will. Big Time. Bigger than ever. But the MAC from this moment on (Rhapsody) is not the same as the MAC the past. Here is my point:

Apple's OS should run on both platforms (PowerPC and Intel).

In fact, Apple has already done this. NeXT spent its life on Intel and at this moment Rhapsody is available in both PowerPC and Intel flavors. Pick the phone up - you can order it. So Apple is committed to supporting both platforms.

What I am complaining about is that Apple is not making and selling Intel boxes even though their OS runs on Intel and Intel boxes are a tremendous revenue source. The golden opportunity comes in January and I am afraid they will miss it if people don't scream loud enough.

All Steve has to say is "Go to the Apple site to buy your computer regardless of what it is. Why? Because we offer both PowerPC and Intel machines at prices that can't be beat. You can compare and order any OS you want: MSFT, Rhapsody, MAC, Solaris, and other forms of Unix.".

There is no other computer manufacturer in the world that can say that. The Unix hand holding can be farmed to SCO who would love it. I'm sure Sun would not complain about the possibility of new sales.

The important thing is to drive all the foot traffic to Apple where you compare and sell any OS but highlight your own. Will DELL beat you at this game? I doubt it - they don't have a Apple license.
