8/31/12 Contest Update
Neither Hurricane Isaac, nor the formal acceptance of the Romey/Ryan ticket by the Republican Convention, could get the market moving. But a bit of Fedspeak by Chairman Ben did the trick, giving stocks another Friday bounce.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 36.41% YTD (vs. up 35.70% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 30.67% YTD (vs. up 30.26% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 17.73% YTD (vs. up 17.84% YTD a week ago).
RKRW’ portfolio, up a phenomenal 96.57% YTD, was muscled back into first place by SRPT, the week’s top Contest portfolio gainer. DONS’ portfolio, up 93.47% YTD, fell to second place and NP1986’s portfolio, up 67.59% YTD, held on to third place.
At Friday's close, 3 of the 38 Contest portfolios remained in the red, with 23 of the 38 portfolios still beating the NBI.
