I'm worried that YOU did not read your article:

"The Fort Pitt incident is the best documented case of deliberately spreading smallpox among unsuspecting populations, but it likely was not the first time such a stratagem was employed by military forces. It appears that Ecuyer and Amherst proposed the same idea independently at about the same time, suggesting that the practice was not unusual. "

............

The fact that two people proposed it (and that there is one documented case) does not provide any evidence for the practice being common. I think you are letting your desire for evidence to convince you there is evidence. You can see that even the writers of this article were carried away with their bias. There's nothing wrong with using pathos instead of logos in trying to convince people but for scholarly use- and for teaching- it's important to go with logos (in my opinion, anyway.)

You are writing and using both ethos (negatively- accusing me of being the kind of person who would "scrub" history) and pathos- you are upset about your idea and you think I should be too, even though you have no compelling evidence. I don't mind, but I must tell you I find both types of argument totally ineffective. If you can use logos and come up with many examples (good ones with data) of colonists and American settlers infecting Indians I'll be happy to look at that information. It is, however, not my job to propagandize, so I try to do it as little as possible (except as a propagandist for learning how to read and write and think- I confess I'm biased in favor of those skills.) As for the building of the capitol, I'll check that out with the history teacher. I am an English teacher. I do have historical documents in my literature book (lots and lots of original speeches excerpts from diaries etc) and there are bios and historical thumbnails- but what you are asking falls more in the purview of the history teachers.
