because i simply see too many counter examples

the lady who cleans our office every morning managed to put two kids through university in foreign lands, now her son is a stockbroker, and daughter an accountant

the lady who sells flowers to us features two kids, one a doctor and another owner of gardening biz

and the list goes on

so, perhaps the issue has a cultural dimension to it
