Sure they could sell things....but it would be fire sale prices at this point. Assets with no capital plan to extract reserves versus those that do are valued very different. And why would a buyer PAY for more money when he is putting up to develop the reserves? You and I wouldn't. Also historically resevres in BK are worth less than normal anyway....according to buy side research.

As Bill has pointed out, the Trustee of the estate goal is to try and value the estate for viability and maximize values. Dumping assets in BK does not do that since they don't have any capital plan. First and formost is to try and develop capital plans which would cause all asset say in the UK to be worth more. Selling is a last resort. A PUD asset with no capital is worth less then a PUD asset with a plan.

Could UK sub do their own thing? Sure, and I hope they do. They don't have the money in the sub to take over Octobouy and whether they could afford to rent rigs, I don't know.
