Quite natural for retired folks to relocate to lower cost states. When I visit life long friends in lower cost states, I hear the glee from them of the 'poor schmucks' who still live in CA and the east coast. Why they have not relocated to be like us. Well, when I point out the high employment prospects with six figure packages, the endless opportunities, the income is more then enough to compensate for the higher taxes. Services and safety net regardless of the budget cut backs are still superior compared to the lower cost states. Also many of the lower cost states have hidden taxes you may not realize. In TN, you will pay up to 10% sales tax depending on county on food. In MN, there is no sales tax on food and clothing.

Of all the states to choose from, why did the Facebook founder(s) set up shop in CA?
