The new Sony disc/drive that contains up to 200 megs of info, and is backwards compatible with the 1.44 meg disc displayed at Comdex (see Barron's article by Eric Savitz this week (Nov 29) has the chance to be home run. Savitz says it could knock Iomega's Zip out of the removable storage game.
Sony has a lot of other things going for it - good profits in the movie business (including a just bought 25% share of Spanish channel Telemondo)- good movie titles - Men in Black, etc., Sony music (the just released Celine Dion CD will make a fortune), DVD players , and best of all once High definition TV takes over - Sony will make a pile - we will all have to shell out $1000 plus for a new TV. This stock has been knocked down because of the Japanese and Asian problems - but this is a company with sales all over the world, and all that a lower Yen does is reduce costs. I see this stock going to $200 in a year. Any views?
