Re: "I know AMD is sampling .25u K6's, but that's about all they have really been doing with their 233mhz .35u K6. Little more than sample quantities."

It's statements like these that reveal to the thread exactly how biased and misinformed you are.

A vanilla Pentium runs at 3.3V--does this necessarily mean Intel is maxing out their chips? I don't think so. That should also answer your question about whether I think Intel is maxing out their chips--no. I just pointed out that if the Pentium II brick offers better heat dissipation than socket 7, Intel can afford to clock their chips higher. Just like if I wanted to overclock my K6, I'd get a better heatsink and a better fan.

If Yousef's statement that AMD's .35u process is two speed grades behind Intel, is, as you say, based on sound reasoning (and I'd agree that it may well be, at this point, although I'd put the number closer to 1.5 speed grades), then why are you claiming that AMD is producing 233's in only sample quantities? Isn't that tantamount to claiming Intel is only producing the 3000 mhx PII in sample quantities?
