We are currently producing about what we produced in '04

Here is a graph of US oil production from BP taken from a FT article. It shows that production as of the end of 2010 was at the same levels as 1998, having taken a great leap since 2008. Now production is considerably higher, so we may be back to mid-1990s levels.
