2016: Obama's America Set To Overtake Al Gore and Michael Moore Films This Weekend In Box Office Cash
Last update: 9/7/2012 9:50:00 AM
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Successful Film Expected To Hit #2 All-Time Highest Political Documentary
The following is being released by O.A.F. LLC:
The blockbuster hit film "2016: Obama's America" has taken in a total of $22 million and as it goes into wide release this weekend on a total of 2,011 screens, is expected to surpass Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," and Michael Moore's "Sicko," to become the #2 biggest political documentary in history. The film's impressive total happened in spite of the fact that it expanded from just over 1,000 screens to nearly 1,800 screens across the nation, helping it to finish at #8 for the Labor Day weekend and #3 in per screen-average.
"We are thrilled that Americans are getting the message that President Obama desires to 'downsize' America's global influence. We are planning to expand distribution to meet the overwhelming demand of concerned Americans who want a glimpse of the future of Obama's America," said Writer/Director Dinesh D'Souza.
Based on Dinesh D'Souza's bestselling book The Roots of Obama's Rage, the film has attracted widespread attention among conservatives, liberals and independents. Despite hostile reviews from mainstream critics, the film has appealed to moviegoers across the country, drawing strong crowds in New York and Los Angeles.
"This film is having an impact across the country," said Producer Gerald R. Molen. "For the first time, Americans are learning what shape President Obama's ideology--and the consequences it will have for our country's future."
"2016: Obama's America" was filmed on four continents and features on-camera interviews with those who knew President Obama and his family, including his destitute half-brother George Obama in Kenya and Philip Ochieng, who was an associate of Barack Obama, Sr. It is the definitive account of how one man's past could redefine a nation and where we will be in 2016 if Obama remains in the White House.
