Really? She owes it to *$&#* union? The taxpayers have nothing at all to do with it?
surprisingly often those people "don't get it". They feel that they put in their 20 or whatever years, and they earned their retirement package. It escapes them that the money doesnt simply come from the "government", that it must be taken from some real working people, who often earn a lot less than what they receive as their "decent" pension.

I remember one fellow who used to be a cleaning man - taking care of offices of some NYC agencies. He retired the very same day when he became eligible for his lifelong benefit package. The guy was in his early 50's.

That's why NYC has to charge 6.50 for crossing most bridges between parts of the city - each way. They collect, as I recall, 12 bucks when you cross a bridge or a tunnel driving into the city. It won't work; they'll go broke anyway.
