In the end the best way to end terrorism is not to attack the countries where it finds its support but rather to reduce popular support for terrorism in those countries where it breeds

These terrorists were Religious fanatics. They were not motivated by being poor. Fifteen of the 911 Terrorists came from well off Saudi families. The other four had money also. Alleviating the poverty of the Muslims would not change their hated of "the big and little Satans" they demonstrate against every Friday after Morning Mosque services. It "breeds" in the Mullahs statements, not in the poverty and pestilence though which they themselves daily walk.

Islam is a political system of Government with a Religion attached. The reason there was no real outcry in the Islamic world about 911 is that what the terrorists believe is right out of the Koran. They didn't attack us because we are rich and they are poor. They attacked us because they believe they are right and we are wrong. Being "nice" to them, as Obama and the rest of the Left are doing, only encourages them. The "Chomsky" approach, that American Foreign policy is evil, is not going to change their POV. It only encourages them to believe that their approach is the right one.

I wish they would become well off, it would help matters. Unfortunately, the system is set up to fail. They are in the process of going from a secular Dictatorship to a Religious Dictatorship that will end up combining the two, as Iran as done. This will only increase the poverty. If they manage to struggle to some sort of economic balance, it will be defeated by the Socialism that their Westernized members believe in. I see nothing in the future for them but endless recycling of these three tragedies.

The best thing we could do is shun them. Leave them to find their own way out of the mess they have created.
