>> I REALLY have to watch my mouth with my dance partners. 90% are School Teachers. They well know that Hawaii is 49th in results and 10th in expenditures. But they don't want to hear about it.
I told you yesterday about stirring up a hornet's nest on Facebook, and it continued on through today.
It is kind of funny because I dated one of the teachers engaged in that argument in college, who I had met in some throw-away class. And she was not exactly the brightest person I ever met. Not stupid or anything, and I'm sure she became a good teacher, but definitely not your Magna Cum Laude type. I was thinking, "Damn, I wonder how fat her retirement check is."
I was surprised, when my sister-in-law, a former teacher and hard-core Republican, jumped in and defended the outrageous compensation plans (her comment was, "Whatever they're paid, they're worth it" -- recalling her days making $30,000/year). Unions are thicker than political parties, I suppose. |
