Nokia (NOK) Erases Post-Lumia Debut Dip; Short Interest Increases in WP8 Launch

6:43 AM ET, 09/12/2012 - Street Insider
Shares of Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) are ticking higher Wednesday morning on positive sentiment following a dip from the Lumia handset announcement on September 5th which, arguably, failed to impress investors and analysts alike.

The news isn't all giggles and hugs though; data from Markit has short positions on Nokia widening from 5.6 percent up to 15.3 percent as of September 10th.

But, Nokia is currently outpacing the Stoxx 600, up about 4 percent in Europe versus the Stoxx 600 at a 0.4 percent gain.

Other data for Nokia: the company may release an entry-level Windows Phone 7.5 later in 2012, according to a Digitimes report Tuesday. Additionally, third-quarter results are expected out on October 18th.

U.S. shares of Nokia are over 5 percent higher in the early session.
